I got a question on how to make a glowing effect in a vector illustration with outlines, using CorelDRAW X4. Here is my lilttle tip on how I did. This image took about 5-10 minutes to make.

  1. Make a Rectangle black Background
  2. Go to The Mesh Fill in the Toolbar (See Interactive Fill Tool)
  3. Make a simple Mesh grid, add more grids in the grid by clicking inside the Mesh grid
  4. Add colour by selecting the grid sqaure you like to get coloured, and add colour from the colour palette
  5. Make a new layer in the object manager, (not necessary, but I always do this way to have layers and certain objects/curves separate)
  6. Choose Freehand tool to draw the outlines with. Among the Bezier and Pen tools in Tool Bar
  7. Go to the Pen tool dialog to set an outline width. For this example
10 points width, and for thinner outlines I choosed 8 point
  8. Draw your outlines
  9. Choose Transparancy Tool ( Wine icon in the Tool Bar)
  10. Drag and add the transprancy you like ot the outlines
  11. Add circles, and do the same procedure
  12. Finished

Have fun!
