Fantastika SF congress and the exhibition Utopian visions
Today I met up with my friend Steven Savile for a few hours of coffee at Espresso House in Sickla mall, Nacka, Stockholm in Sweden. Steve’s friend Thomas who also writes and draw & illustrate also came by a little later and joined us for more talk about writing, illustration and life in general and coffee drinking. Steve participates in the Fantastika SF Science fiction Congress at Dieselverkstaden in different panels, conferences as the author he is of several books of different genres. Steven Savile have written among other things the book SILVER which has been translated into several languages and published in many countries. ( Also available as e-book ). A really exciting book that is highly recommended. Books and other visitors of the SF-Congress will know that he also wrote for Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate, Warhammer, Slaine and Primeval.
Fantastika 2013 SF Congress, the meeting place for all those who are interested in science fiction, fantasy and horror, and runs from 18 to 20 October 2013.
Adjacent to the convention itself is an ongoing exhibition ”Utopian vision” with pictures and text drawn from the magazine Utopia from Swedish comic Kolik publishing house . With image and text material, and a guide, to get the opportunity to get a little closer to the people and stories who writes and illustrate for the magazine Utopia. The gallery at Dieselverkstaden might be a smaller space but well worth a visit. As an illustrator myself (but not for this magazine), I stopped by quickly and went in and saw the exhibition. Highly recommend a visit regardless if you otherwise attend the Congress.
