Bad WordPress Forum Policy on removing links makes no sense
I missed a time limit of an hour window to remove a link. A link that will eventually lead others no-where.
But instead of removing the link, in a comment I wrote myself, a moderator basically refused, on basis the WordPress Forum Policy, claiming it is there to the benefit of others. But it will have no benefit whatsoever – because it will lead no-where, when I delete the site it leads to.
As much as I understand there is a policy, but contrary to what WordPress/Automattic assume, this is not because of any SEO-thing on my part. (Quite arrogant to assume this to be the case). This is a temporary address I use with my client just before we are going live on a totally different domain. This was a mistake by myself, who had to walk my dog, and forgot the time limit of the one hour window for ”Edit”. I put the link to help a friendly helpful person to see the page to help out. Then had to walk my dog, forgot the one-hour time limit, and wordpress policy hit me.

In my view, these sort of attitudes behind a policy created by people sitting on high-horses with unfriendly approaches, make at least me, pissed-off.
Its like the song with Frank Sinatra:”…”the newspaper boy who says he´s saving an extra paper, and doesn’t”. Or in the song where he sings: ”… it´s not milky white, it´s dingy grey”.
I think it’s extremely impolite, silly, not grown-up, not helpful and instead arrogant, if you ask me.
All the talk in wordpress storytelling about keeping a free internet, being friendly, polite https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/#deleting-editing-posts .
The only thing that will happen is that the link will eventually lead to an empty no-where in cyberspace. And how will that benefit anyone in the future?
Personally I think this policy to be stupid and a very counterproductive policy, that only evoke animosity – like this post I guess. How many times havent I clicked a link a in post that leads to nothing. It benefits no one if you ask me. Very counterproductive attitude and bizarre. Like this website link: http://example.com/ . Which isnt seen as offensive, like maybe this one https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump , but at least it leads to a website with some sort of content.
Plain simple – its a stupid policy
But, lets end this post with a nicer tune than that policy: ”That´s Life” with Frank Sinatra, and learn something
And other than this experience – I enjoy wordpress and recommend it as a great platform. A platform I use myself. Both free stuff and paid for services and stuff.
Ps. Removing that link was impossible, but this text itself, in part posted as a response on WordPress Forum, was automatically put on hold while a a moderator will have a look at it. I wonder why. Was it me saying ”Pissed-off” or links? bizarre. Upate: this answer was not accepted by WordPress Moderator, who censured me and never allowed it being posted, and then closed the thread before me being able to respond. He did let my post with just a dot to be published ;-). Silly people.
