Sauron Lord of the Rings – my editorial illustration for Kollega Magazine, Sweden
This summer I got an assignment from one of my magazine clients, ”Kollega”. The 6th largest magazine in Sweden, I read somewhere. Regardless of size, I got the assignment to draw Sauron. The ”ultimate” ruler in Lord of the Rings. They whanted me to draw Sauron from lord Of the Rings for the editorial article about ”Ruler tactics” as it is freely translated as. In Swedish ”Härskarteknik”. It is a awful tactic used by one person or a group at let say a workplace, to manipulate to gain and uphold social status and rank. Very freely translated. It was first mentioned by the Norwegian Ingjald Nissen in 1945. Who suggested 9 stages of it, later downsized to about 5 stages. I first started to draw drafts, sketches in my sketchbook to find Saurons face and looks and later fairly quiickly scanned my sketches and started to draw and paint, and finished the entire illustration of Sauron using Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6. And my wacom intuos 4 tablet.
