Corel Ventura community forum?

I don´t believe Corel still sell Corel Ventura 10, but is still being used by many users. And it is still a great program for users having Windows XP. And Windows 7, I have heard from sers with Windows 7 telling. Have not heard anything about users installing it on Windows 8 as of yet. Here a wikipedia article about the story of Corel Ventura. But one have to have in mind it is still an older program today.

I know one should not compare entirely CorelDRAW with Corel Ventura. But at the same time I would still recomend looking into CorelDRAW tools & features regarding Layout. I use CorelDRAW myself for all my layout and desing work. At the same time, still many uses Ventura being still a great program, as old as it may be.     I have not been able to make Ventura run on Windows 10,
    and it is a big problem )))

    I just googled it again, and it seems like some make it work on Windows 7.

    Have you made it work on Windows 7?

    1. Hej Jan,

      Ventura doesnt work on Win 8 or later, because those operating systems was not even invented at that time.

      Some claim they managed to have Ventura 10 on their Win 7, but I havent tried myself. I dont use Corel VENTURA 10. I use CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7 currently. Maybe CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7 might work for you?

      A solution maybe, if you on your Windows 7 or 8 or later windows 10, install a VIRTUAL BOX. And on the virtual box install for example Win XP, so you can run your Ventura 10.

  2. I am using Ventura 10 with Windows 7. My problem is that many of my ? marks change to the word ”question” and visa versa. This is extremely frustrating. Even when I make a correction. The program automatically reverts to the same error. Can you please help me?

  3. Problem solved by uninstalling and then reinstalling program.

  4. I still use Corel Ventura 10 on Windows 10 – without any problem.

  5. Wish the Corel people would wake up and smell the coffee. Ventura needs an upgrade. It is the best DTP program I’ve tried.

    1. Yes, But that will never happen unfortunately. It’s too old of a version and software. Instead consider CorelDRAW to be the program to invest in. If you like to continue with Corel software. If Ventura had been updated as regularly as all other Corel software, the Corel Ventura version would be 17, 18 or 19 at this time. Just like CorelDRAW. Currently version X8, which stands for 18.0. So, it’s a lot of years old. And removed from their website since a few years back.

  6. I use CorelDraw x8 and Corel Wordperfect. I love Corel’s products. Unfortunately, trying to do DTP with either of these programs is too difficult.

    1. Hi Gilda, I am with you: CorelDRAW would benefit from more DTP centric tools and features. Equally I use it myself to create graphic design and mutliple pages documents. Question, which Ventura tools and features would you like to see in CorelDRAW, and which current tools and features already in CorelDRAW would you like to see improved and enhanced?

  7. COREL VENTURA 10 WORKS ON WINDOWS 7, 8 AN 10 !!!
    I’ll tell you how to install it. First you need to install Corel Ventura 10 in Compatibility mode as in Windows XP (use left click on setup file to choose this option). Then you need to copy a file mfc42.dll from Ventura install CD to program folder of Ventura. Now you can start Corel Ventura normaly. I hope I help with this solution to many of Ventura 10 users who miss this application in newest Windows. It’s still much better for DTP as CorelDraw.

  8. CorelDraw is a wonderful graphics program. The features I need are for DTP, i.e., running headers with page numbers, chapters, table of contents, index. These can be accomplished with WP, but the program tends to crash when a lot of graphics are included. Ventura handles these, but I am having a lot of difficulty with running headers and page numbers, creating a TOC with dot leaders before the page numbers. I keep trying over and over believing I’m following the Ventura Guide, but the result is not what is expected.

    1. I hear you Gilda, Because I beta test CorelDRAW and one who also use exensively the program for various projects, I would definitely bring any thougths you have, wishes for added features and tools to be added to CorelDRAW. Those you use specifically in Ventura and Wordperfect. I can never promiss anything, but i will definitely see to that your ideas and thoughts, be sent to the right people. So, if you have a top 5, 10 or more, let me know here, and I will give it to them.

  9. Many thanks for your reply Stefan. Here are my ten ideas.
    1. Re-introduce Ventura to the Marketplace. It will sell! It is superior to all the others.
    2. The Corel people need to go on the internet and search Ventura Publisher. It is still used and highly regarded.
    3. At a minimum fix the Ventura bugs. Create and sell a service package. The program crashes when it doesn’t like something the user tries. I would be happy to provide a list of items needing repair.
    4. WP does not handle Ventura’s features well. It doesn’t like too many graphics on a page.
    5. Re-introduce Ventura.
    6. Re-introduce Ventura.
    7. Re-introduce Ventura.
    8. Re-introduce Ventura.
    9. Re-introduce Ventura.
    10. Re-introduce Ventura.

      I will forward the notes. For the sake of argument, if only CorelDRAW excists, which functions in Corel Ventura would you consider great to have in CorelDRAW. And why.

      It is probably rather safe to reiterate that Corel Ventura will never be updated or arrive in a new version. I say this with no knowledge of Corels plans. But if you, like I mentioned earlier, look at how old the latest Ventura version is, it´s probably 99.99% sure will not happen.

      SO, a bullet point list of your top 5 or 10 features/tools in Ventura would be great
