Steven Savile, the writer illustrated & interviewed by Stefan Lindblad
One of my friends is a writer. His name is Steven Savile. A great writer of science fiction and exciting action filled novels. You might have seen his books when choosing a book on an airport, on amazon, (look for Steven Savile) or just about any bookstore in your neighbourhood.
I am myself an illustrator, graphic designer and artist. I made a few book cover illustrations and designs for a few of Steven Savile´s books. But also quite a few other books as well. For swedish book publishers such as Berghs Förlag in Stockholm, Sweden. And Hegas Bokförlag. Few other illustration and design diciplines of mine is editorial illustration and designing logotypes. For this illustration, a portrait of Steven Savile, I used CorelDRAW X7 creating this 100% vector art.
One of the things on my blog´s is to interview people who are fellow designer and illustrators, and people working with similar graphics programs like myself. And this summer 2015, just a day before start of July, I like to present Steven Savile to the list of people for my interview series. And this time around I took another approach to the interviewing technique – I didnt ask too many questions, but let Steve tell in short himself.
Steven Savile´s website is www.stevensavile.com
You can find Steven Savile books available on Amazon, unless you right now is standing in a book store and happily see one of his books in one of the shelves. For example the great thriller book ”Silver”, translated into numerous languages around the world. Enjoy the read.

So Steve, if I would try to present you in short, and let you do all the presentation yourself, what would you say if I ask, who is Steven savile. And which books would you say is the ones to look closer to?
”I’ve written for Doctor Who, Torchwood, Primeval, Stargate, Warhammer, Slaine, Fireborn, Pathfinder, Arkham Horror, Risen, and other popular game and comic worlds. Indeed, I actually wrote the story for Electronic Arts’ massive bestselling game Battlefield 3. I’ve been published in eight languages to date, including the Italian bestseller L’eridita, and Shadow of the Jaguar, which was a #1 hardback bestseller in the UK.
I won the International Media Association of Tie-In Writers award for SHADOW OF THE JAGUAR and The inaugural Lifeboat to the Stars award for TAU CETI (co-authored with Kevin J. Anderson).
My novel BLACK FLAG (written as Matt Langley) was the first original fiction commissioned by Cambridge University Press in the 500 years since it received its Royal Charter from King Henry VIII and won the winter quarter of the People’s Book Prize in the UK recently and is up for the grand award this May. SILVER, my debut thriller reached #2 in the Amazon UK e-charts in the summer of 2011 and stayed there for several months. It was among the UK’s top 30 bestselling novels of 2011 according to The Bookseller.
I’ve ghostwritten for several celebrities, and most recently wrote HNIC (along with the legendary Hip Hop artist Prodigy, of Mobb Deep) which was Library Journal’s Pick of the Month. Last year I wrote five Rogue Angel novels as Alex Archer for Harlequin. And over the last twelve months have signed a substantial deal with St Martins for an original series debuting fall 2016 with Glass Town, and with Titan in the UK for a crime novel due out at much the same time. This November I have a conspiracy thriller from Akashic in the US (Sunfail) and a Sherlock Holmes novel from Titan… ”
Thank you Steve for participating in my interview series, and see you soon for coffee.
